Enchantments are often described as similar to Sorceries, although they may require more preparation or time depending on the area and mana involved. Sorceries, on the other hand, are spells that generally take time to cast (seconds to minutes, and occasionally involve materials for preparation). While there are several instants that persist longer than a few seconds, few ever indicate such a casting time. They're moments, seconds or less, often described as "as fast as a mage can think." They're bolts of Lightning, rapid Beams of Light, and spells to counter those split second attacks. How? Because it says "Split Second?" If we're thinking along those terms, wouldn't Instants still be.well, Instant?Īlright, first off, Instants have always been incredibly quick. In fact, it will likely be ridiculously ineffective, unless you're talking Balefire on the same level that had Channelers afraid the pattern would unravel.
